It’s Thanksgiving. Are you cooking for family and friends? You can be clean and still wow your guests for Thanksgiving dinner.
I want to give you a couple of alternatives to fattening holiday foods that use ingredients that won’t fuel your health. It won’t be a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, but the love and community and great food will still continue your tradition.
The most important thing to remember for the holidays is EAT REAL FOOD.
I have two suggestions for menus on Thanksgiving.
I follow a wonderful Paleo cookbook writer called Nom Nom Paleo. SHe is delightful and her recipes are the bomb. This is her guide to Thanksgiving. Everything that I have ever made from her recipes has been a big hit.
This year we are going out, so I wanted to share with you what I made for family and friends last Thanksgiving. The food was scrumptious, and everyone was impressed that they got to be healthy as well. Food cooked with love, served to people you love is always a win. Trust me, you won’t feel deprived.
My last comment about Thanksgiving and healthy food.
I have many sensitivities, so some foods are kryptonite to me. This year I am going to a friends home for Thanksgiving. I will bring a dish that I can eat, and that everyone else can enjoy. I am making my zucchini boats, I carve the meat out of the zucchini, chop it fine, add eggs, rosemary and seasoning, some Applegate bacon crumbles that I just cooked up, and I refill the zucchini boats. I bake them for 1 hour at 350. This way I know there is something there that I can eat, and everyone loves my veggie boats. I put gruyere on top of 1/2 the batch but not mine, since I can’t eat dairy.
Thanksgiving is about community and love, and being thankful for the joy and love that we share together. Its not about pigging out on unhealthy food. Share the love. Enjoy
